Years 7, 8 & 9
Throughout the key stage, students will study the core subjects; English, Mathematics, Science and ICT. They will also study Physical Education, Religious Education, Personal, Social and Health Education, Citizenship, Technology, History, Geography, Drama, Music, Art and at least one Modern Foreign Language - French. As from September 2008, significant changes are being made to the KS3 curriculum in secondary schools. The aim of this is to support students by personalising the curriculum in order that it more closely matches their needs, and strengthening provision for the development of the skills and qualities that young people need if they are to be effective lifelong learners able to meet the demands of life in the 21st century. As this will initially be a pilot, not all students will be involved in the programme which has a more cross-curricular, integrated approach as well as an increased focus on skill development. The programme will be monitored closely with the aim of extending the pilot to all students from September 2009. Aston Comprehensive School is committed to high quality learning and teaching which will provide our students with the skills essential for citizens of the 21st Century.
